THE UNITED STATES OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP AT PINEHURST #2

Patrick Cantlay leads at -5 and he is due to win a major, I have been betting on him to win a major for the past two years. I now refuse to pick him to win a major, so he should pull away from the field on Saturday and win going away. Any player who shot even or better in round one has a shot at this championship. I believe the winner will be at -10 or -11. Thirty years ago I thought I would never say that a U.S. Open Golf Championship won at -10, no way the winner is never more than -4. It seems they can't make a course long enough or tough enough for today's players. A player hit a 380 yard drive on Thursday and Cantlay had 23 putts on the terrifying greens at Pinehurst #2. I picked Victor Hovland or Bezuidenhout to win and my long shots to finish in the top ten were Strepp Straka and Russel Henley. I will be watching in amazement at how good these players are and hoping to see some double bogeys or please higher numbers, so I can say see how it feels! now you know how it feels to blow up a hole like I do every round! You players go around birdie, birdie, par, par and have no idea what it feels like to destroy your round in one hole, with a triple or quad. Well maybe during one of the majors you will feel that same feeling us hackers feel every round, helpless against the course and totally powerless against the big numbers on the scorecard. The only way we can shoot par is by using a big eraser and these guys are shooting 65 on a course The USGA tried to set up so even the best player in the world would be happy with an even par round. There have been U.S. Open winners at over par numbers but not every Open. I want to see every U.S. Open winner at +5 like in 2006 and 2007 that was so satisfying for me. Please Mother Nature do something for me, please this once help me, give me some high winds and maybe a little rain, not a -lot just enough to change the course and annoy the players. I want to see high scores, give me big numbers let all these elite players in the world feel like Harry Duckhook or Sammy Slicer feels every single round. GOD let the addictive form of mental torture you sent us torture these elites just like in 2006 and 2007.

Follow Up: Aberg has taken the lead after two rounds of the 2024 U.S. Open Golf Championship at Pinehurst #2. Today look for Aberg to fade a little DeChambeau to be in the trees and waste areas as Tom Kim, Hideki Matsuyama stay steady and move up the leaderboard. Cantlay will fade a little but stay in contact as well as McElroy. Look for Henley, Connors and Min Woo Lee make big moves to get into contention. This is moving day and the players will move up and down the leaderboard. Look for more double bogeys and birdies. The leaderboard will look different tomorrow as we go into the final round. Bottom feeders tee off at 9:00 AM Leaders tee off at 3:30 PM if you like to see professional golfers get frustrated and pile up strokes it will be good viewing, I was not disappointed yesterday.

Final Round: Bryson DeChambeau shot a one over 71 to hold on and win the U.S. Open Golf Championship. McElroy had a chance to be in a playoff but he yipped his ass off. Rory missed two 3 to four foot putts in the last three holes to make bogeys and fall behind DeChambeau. Bryson rarely hit the fairway in the final round, but it didn't seem to make a difference or bother him, he would hit his shots out of the waste areas and hit the green or put right back in the middle of the fairway. On eighteen, Bryson hit his drive way left into the waste area, knocked out into the bunker in front of the green and made a great 40 yard bunker shot to within about five feet of the hole and made the put to win his second U.S. Open Golf Championship. DeChambeaus' first U.S. Open Championship was at Wing Foot when there were no galleries in 2020. Rory shot one under and was in the fairway more than Bryson and did take control of the tournament on the back nine before the spirit of great yipping entered him around the fifteenth or sixteenth hole. As for McElroy I can't imagine and I will never know the pressure Rory was under. Overall the course was set up well for a U.S. Open, I think it should be an accomplishment for these player to shoot under par. Honestly I really enjoy watching the pro's make bogeys and double bogeys. I enjoy seeing the world's best players struggle as we do every weekend on a 120 slope course. Good bye until The Open in Great Britain where we will see another major battle ensue in the golf world.
THE VILLAGE OF PINEHURST

If you have a chance to play the Pinehurst Country Club courses, I would suggest you don't. The prices are outrageous, the caddie fees are ridiculous and there is fifty very nice courses to play in the area. Pine Needles has held The Women's U.S. Open in the past and I would suggest you avoid this property also. I found the golf course very boring, easy for me, I was a single digit handicap on a good day. I shot a couple over from the back tees with four penalty strokes. The staff was not welcoming or friendly. The place to stay is The Pinecrest Inn not at Pinehurst Resort. Walk around The Pinehurst Resort maybe have a drink when you are not playing Tabacco Road, The Pit, The Legacy or Tot Hill Farm. The USGA has a new facility on site at Pinehurst that I hear is a must see for all golf addicts. If they build up a course do not play it. Southern Pines owned by The Elks is a nice old course that is simple and provides a mentally relaxing round. Pinehurst is a great golf location for all the other courses you can play besides Pinehurst. The Pinecrest Inn and The Village of Pinehurst is a must see.

Oklahoma Wins Their Eighth Softball Championship
Thursday June 6, 2024 The University of Oklahoma at Norman won their eighth national softball title defeating The University of Texas at Austin in Oklahoma City. Although eight NCAA Championships seems like a big number for one school in college softball it actually isn't. The University of Arizona at Tuscon has eight softball championships under the direction of Mike Candrea and University of California at Los Angeles has collected thirteen titles under Sue Enquist and Kelly Inouye Perez. UCLA and Arizona took advantage of the fact that the major institutions across the country were not investing in softball in 1982. The first National Championship of Women's Softball was played in 1969, but was not sanctioned by The NCAA. The Oklahoma Sooners did just win their fourth in a row which had not been done before. If you are thinking Patty Gasso is the G.O.A.T. you have an argument, but others have led teams as many more titles in their careers. Sue Enquist may be considered the G.O.A.T. as she led her Bruins of UCLA to twelve NCAA Championships. Gasso just tied Mike Candrea with eight titles. They both sit in second place behind Enquist. Some may argue Enquist did this at a time when there were not very many softball teams participating in The NCAA. Not all the power conference's had softball teams. Enquist did this with a smaller budget and fewer assistant coaches as the power conference's have currently allotted for softball. The game has grown tremendously in the last thirty years and I am glad it has. This is a good game to watch and these players have some talent, determination and heart.

Nellie Korda won five LPGA tournaments in a row going into the LPGA record books as the most wins in a row. Korda is tied with Nancy Lopez and Anikka Sorenstam. Next week she has a chance for her sixth in a row at The JM Eagle Championship. The tournament takes place at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles and short and narrow course. Nellie Korda is in the field going for her sixth win in a row, she hasn't done well in the past on this layout. Nellie Korda's streak was ended at five.

In the United States the national media tells us we have elections for Senators, Congressmen, Representatives, Presidents etc. Anyone with any brains knows this is not true. Well when did the government ever lie to you? Always, continuously, every day. I believe these people drawing a government paycheck are installed and have been for years. Even Donald Trump I believe was installed as I believe Hillary became ill or passed on. Trump had fooled the left into thinking he was with them. Back to elections how do we get John Fetterman, A.O.C. and other ridiculous characters in our government. How do certain Representatives win election after election with 70% of the vote every election. Not 71% or 69% but exactly 70%. How do we have incumbents who are obviously mentally challenged or criminals working for HA HA our government.

The game between the Longhorns and the Volunteers opens up with the analist team talking about home run power. These teams are playing in a AAA ball park which is bigger than their college ball parks. In Omaha the name of the game is line drives, singles and doubles win the championship. the play by play announcers keeps saying a strike at 93, a ball at 94. When the ball is not moving and the pitcher is not hitting the corners who cares what the radar gun says. Ask any former or current major leaguer if it is straight speed doesn't matter. It's the 88 mile per hour slider just out of reach of the hitter that is a nightmare for hitters. The fork ball that looks like a fastball and drops four feet before the plate is a pitch that should be talked about. When a man throws 100 or more he might be able to just blow it by college and pro hitters.
